FAQ

Q. What is permanent make-up?

A. Permanent make-up is a cosmetic enhancement procedure that uses micro-implantation of coloring pigments to correct skin irregularities, to contour and outline facial features, and to comlement the overall appearance. Permanent make-up is often used to camouflage scars and burns, and to correct skin discoloration.

Q.
Is permanent make-up similar to a tattoo?

A. Although the concepts are similar, techniques and tools used for tattoo and permanent make-up are very different. Only certified aestheticians can perform permanent make-up application; tattoo artists cannot. Techniques and pigments are specifically designed for micro-pigmentation procedures and are much safer and less painful. Sterile instruments used for permanent make-up application are more delicate which ensures natural-looking results.

Q. What pigments are used for permanent make-up?

A. Cosmetic Technologies uses safe pigments approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. These pigments have been exposed to gamma rays to eliminate germs. The coloring agents we use in our cosmetic enhancement procedures are inert and don't interfere with the body's natural chemistry.

Q. Can I have an allergic reaction to pigments?

A. There have been no known allergic reactions to pigments used by Cosmetic Technologies. We always perform allergy tests on patients with a history of allergies.

Q. Is permanent make-up a safe procedure?

A. Permanent make-up application at Cosmetic Technologies is absolutely safe. The procedure is performed in sterile conditions with the use of disposable needles. Although some redness, swelling, and tenderness may occur immediately after the application, there are no long-term effects.

Q. Am I going to feel discomfort during the procedure?

A. Most patients report little or no discomfort. To block pain, topical gel-like anesthetics are used on the area of permanent make-up application before the procedure.

Q. How long does the procedure take?

A. It usually takes one to two hours to complete a standard permanent make-up application.

Q. How long does permanent make-up last?

A. Your permanent make-up applied at Cosmetic Technologies will last from 18 months to a few years. Pigments may fade for many reasons including color of pigment, skin type, excessive exposure to sun, water, and chlorine.
